We have made the display at our home in Sao Joao on the island of Pico, and have drawn on Malcolm's knowledge on the subjects aquired during 50 years of research and Dorothy's skills as a one time biology teacher and enthusiastic seamstress.
The aim of the display is to describe the biology of the sperm whale as a backdrop to the commercial whale watching activity on Pico, to enthuse the interested public with the wonder of living things by comparing the biology of three very different animals, a marine mammal, the Sperm Whale, an invertebrate, the squid, and a terrestrial mammal, the human.
